Situado en el corazón de Bath, ciudad Patrimonio de la Humanidad, el Thermae Bath Spa es el único lugar en Gran Bretaña, donde es posible bañarse en aguas ricas en minerales y calentada por la tierra de manera natural, tal y como los romanos hicieron hace 2000 años en Bath y a muy pocos metros del lugar en el que nos encontramos.
Hace unas semanas tuvimos la oportunidad de disfrutar y relajarnos en las aguas termales que han hecho famosa a la ciudad, al igual que los romanos y celtas hicieron hace más de 2.000 años. Una mezcla única de lo «viejo» y lo «nuevo», Thermae combina lo mejor de los edificios del balneario del siglo XVIII con la arquitectura contemporánea de la Royal Bath.
Dentro del Thermae Bath Spa tuvimos la oportunidad de relajarnos en las salas aromáticas de vapor, bañarnos en las aguas termales naturales de en la piscina cubierta Minerva, una piscina con curvas y grandes columnas donde el agua fluye y se mantiene en movimiento. Y sobretodo disfrutar de las espectaculares vistas de la ciudad y las colinas circundantes desde la piscina en la azotea al aire libre.
En nuestra visita elegimos dos de entre la gran variedad de tratamientos de y paquetes disponibles: «Watsu» – una combinación de elementos del masaje shiatsu y la acupresión, realizado en el agua termal natural en una histórica piscina caliente privada; un tratamiento llamado «Trilogía romana» – un trío de tratamientos que comienzan con una sal y un exfoliante de café para suavizar la piel, seguido de un relajante de vainilla y el maraje corporal ylang, para terminar con un facial revitalizante usando aceites de rosa y geranio; el tratamiento «fuerza interior» – un tratamiento calmante que comienza con una inhalación de incienso, una masaje y limpieza de las palmas de las manos y plantas de los pies, seguido de piernas y posteriormente la espalda, usando un aceite corporal para la fuerza interior especialmente mezclado, el tratamiento continúa con la colocación de piedras calientes sobre el cuerpo y la cara mientras el masaje pasa a la cabeza.
El Thermae Bath Spa, suele estas bastante lleno, sobretodo los fines de semana, por ello, es necesario reservar los tratamientos con antelación.
Sin lugar a dudas, hay una pareja perfecta en la ciudad de Bath, esto es, visitar los antiguos baños romanos, y ver cómo los romanos disfrutaban de éstas aguas hace 2000 años y posteriormente sentir de primera mano y con el misma agua que utilizaban hace siglos, para relajarse mientra se disfruta de las mejores vistas de la ciudad. ¡ Un lujo al alcance de cualquiera !

A few weeks ago we had the opportunity to enjoy and relax in the thermal waters which have made the city famous, just as the Romans and Celts did more than 2,000 years ago. A unique blend of ‘old and new’, Thermae combines the best of the 18th century spa buildings with the contemporary architecture of the New Royal Bath.
Inside the Thermae Bath Spa we had the chance to relax in the suite of aroma steam rooms, bathe in the natural thermal waters of the indoor Minerva Bath with its flowing curves and grand columns and enjoy the spectacular views across the city and surrounding hills from the open-air rooftop pool.
Also we choice two of the great range of spa treatments and packages: Watsu – a combination of elements of shiatsu massage and acupressure, performed in the natural thermal water in the historic Hot Bath; Roman Trilogy – a trio of treatments starting with a salt and coffee body scrub to soften the skin, followed by a relaxing vanilla and ylang ylang body massage and a revitalising facial using uplifting rose and geranium essential oils; and Inner Strength – a soothing and nurturingt treatment beginning with a frankincense inhalation, the palms of the hands and soles of the feet are cleansed and massaged, followed by a leg and back massage using a specially blended Inner Strength body oil and a hot stone placement and face and head massage.
At Thermae Bath Spa, there are no membership or joining fees, however spa treatments should be booked in advance. The Cross Bath can be hired out for exclusive use.
Undoubtedly, there is a perfect match in the city of Bath, visiting the ancient Roman baths, the world largest Roman original «SPA» and then feel the same water they used 2,000 years ago to relax with the best views of the city. A luxury available to everyone !
